Bride of the Century – A look back on the Final Episode by Ana

After watching Bride of the Century episode 16 with subs, I realize that there were so many things we did not understand when me and Ciel watched it live. I also realized that in spite of the lack of skinship in the final episode, it gave a good closure to most of the characters most especially our leads Kang Joo and Doo Rim.

There are several lines in the final episode which I love. Let’s look back on the final episode with some of my favorite lines:

Ciel: Ok, it’s starting! Game on. Replay of the scene where Doo Rim is holding her tummy. She’s in a place with windmills, beautiful place. Ghost puts her hand in Doo Rim’s tummy too.

Ciel: I’m nervous because my connection lags a little. Kang Joo walking around the mall with the secretary and Roo Mi. He’s got a new haircut.

Ana: Is there a time leap?

Ciel:  I’m not sure, I think only for a couple of months.

Since it’s the last two eps of BC, Ciel and I decided to chat while live streaming episode 15 and 16. I will be covering ep 15 while Ciel will be covering 16.

Again please take note that we are two crazy fan girls watching a Korean drama without subs  amidst the fact that we don’t speak nor understand the language. I've been watching Bride of the Century live a few episodes back, and I almost never do that. I only do that for dramas that I am utterly obsessed with. For the first time, me and Ana were chatting while watching a drama live. I thought some of our comments were pretty hilarious so I decided to publish it! Below is our conversation. We don't speak and understand Korean, except for the typical Korean words that embeds our minds while watching korean dramas like oppa, saranghae, aegyo, aigoo, ahjumma and chaebol;)

Ciel: It just started! I screamed when they started showing the opening credits. Yi Kyung is blackmailing Kang Joo. Bitch!

   

Ciel: Awww…. The hospital scene… I can feel their pain.

Ana: Me too! How I wish that Kang Joo hug Doo Rim when they passed by her.

Ana’s Take on Bride of the Century

When you are a fan girl, you keep on watching, waiting for that one drama to make you want to lurk into fan sites for every possible news, picture, behind the scenes videos, NG features, preview …..anything at all about that ONE DRAMA that you  really really like at the moment feels like manna from heaven . You listen to the sound track every possible time to help you get through the week of waiting for the new episode. And because you miss it so much you try to find another fan girl who can understand your craziness (I have Ciel to share my craziness with, you can have us both if you need to share with another crazy fan girl =)).

Been watching dramas  regularly for a few years now (I usually pick one to 3 dramas at a time just so I can still have a life though 3 is already   bordering on  crazy haha)  and  it’s been more than a year of waiting for that one drama to make me go gaga over again.  Bride of the Century is that one drama for me and boy how I love to have this feeling back. Me and Ciel got so crazy about BC  we watch it even without subs  (Ciel actually watches it live streaming hee hee)just to ease the pain of waiting and fill in the need to watch the new episodes. What makes the waiting more painful for this drama is that English subs are only available after 3 days of its telecast . Three veeeery loooooong days of waiting whereas in other dramas we only need to wait a few hours. During times like this I really see the need to learn Korean just so I don’t have to  wait for the subs anymore.

Bride of the Century Episode 1 to 6 Report Card– The Kang Joo and Doo Rim Ship by Fangirl Ciel

I started this drama on a whim. Usually, I check out the first few episodes of a drama to get a feel if it’s my cup of tea and if it’s worth watching. Me and Bride of the Century (BC) had a rather boring start. I was unimpressed with episode 1 that it took me a couple of days before I watched the next episode. Well, why? I find the plot rather cliché and maybe a little bit makjang.  Rich, arrogant, cold hearted hero who has never loved before, check! Poor kind hearted, innocent, very candy-ish heroine, check! It’s basically the plot of almost every drama that ever existed.

Then the other fangirls started raving about the drama and I decided to watch the next epiosode. Episode 1 was basically an introduction of the characters, and the reason why Doo Rim has to enter Kang Joo’s life. What made this drama addictive and enjoyable is when Doo Rim finally met Kang Joo and played his fiancée which is around in episode 2. The chemistry is just palpable, and their interactions oh so funny and spazz worthy!

So how do I rate BC as a drama so far? I’ve come up with a grading system which I think are important ingredients of a good drama, namely a well written plot, a swoon worthy male lead, a kickass heroine, skinship and chemistry, and lastly interesting and non-annoying side characters.
