Angel Eyes – Episodes 1 to 4 Through Ana’s Eyes

Its summer in my part of the world and the 4 initial episodes of this drama surprisingly made my already warm heart a little bit warmer. As always, Ciel got on the Angel Eyes wagon first and asked me to try it out because it’s bursting with the joy of first love and as fan girls we should help spread the love right?!

Bride of the Century – A look back on the Final Episode by Ana

After watching Bride of the Century episode 16 with subs, I realize that there were so many things we did not understand when me and Ciel watched it live. I also realized that in spite of the lack of skinship in the final episode, it gave a good closure to most of the characters most especially our leads Kang Joo and Doo Rim.

There are several lines in the final episode which I love. Let’s look back on the final episode with some of my favorite lines:

Ciel: Ok, it’s starting! Game on. Replay of the scene where Doo Rim is holding her tummy. She’s in a place with windmills, beautiful place. Ghost puts her hand in Doo Rim’s tummy too.

Ciel: I’m nervous because my connection lags a little. Kang Joo walking around the mall with the secretary and Roo Mi. He’s got a new haircut.

Ana: Is there a time leap?

Ciel:  I’m not sure, I think only for a couple of months.

My favorite leading man Seo In Guk is cast in tvN's new drama High School King (working English title).

"High School King is a romantic comedy set in Poong Jin High School, where Seo In Guk’s character, Lee Min Suk, is a popular striker for his hockey team. He is described as a confident and reckless character, who somehow ends up substituting for his older brother at a IT company as the head of the Planning department."

Why I find Korean Dramas Addictive by Fangirl Ciel

I’m Ciel and I confess to being an addict, a Korean drama addict.

You probably guess by this time that me and Ana loves Korean dramas. For us it’s a form of escapism, and there’s no better way spending an hour surrendering ourselves to drama goodness after a hard day in reality. I bet all of you also wished to escape reality and be part of the drama universe you’re watching instead? I know I did. More times that I could count ;)

Which got me thinking, what makes Korean dramas so addictive? Well, from what a Non-Korean but Asian POV, I think here’s why:

Hotel King Episode 1 & 2 First Impressions by Fangirl Ciel

I’ve checked out the first two episodes of Hotel King for one reason only. I have a soft spot for My Girl and I would love to see a Gong Chan and Yoo Rin reunion.

Awww... Just looking at this picture makes me feel nostalgic.

This is a revenge melo drama and I thought it would be refreshing to watch something new since all the dramas I’m currently watching are romcoms.

In a Good Way Episode 1 to 19 Report Card – The Li Chuan and Jia En Ship by Fangirl Ciel

Well hello there, fellow fangirls! I’m here to finally review a Taiwanese drama that I've been avidly watching every week. I’m talking about none other than the drama In A Good Way, which is quite popular nowadays and deservedly so. It’s been so long since I encountered a good Taiwanese drama, that I don’t even remember the last one that I've seen. I think it’s Autumn's Concerto?

This drama has been tagged as the Taiwanese version of Answer Me 1997. I think both dramas are similar in a way that it focuses not only on the lead’s romantic life, but as well on the friendship they've developed that influenced their growth through the years.  One of the great things about the drama Answer Me 1997 is that it managed to have me care for ALL the side characters which I think is quite a feat. In a Good Way is similar in tone, all of the character have side stories that entice you to care and love them.

This drama actually reminded me more of It Started with a Kiss and They Kissed Again due to the college activities and problems the characters are encountering. And I love it! I feel young again and I’m right there with the characters attending Chen Dong University.

Emergency Couple, Letting Go and Moving On – Ana’s Farewell Write Up on the Show

Letting go is a step towards moving on and now that the drama has ended most of the EC fans are probably feeling  the withdrawal pangs right now and are trying to hold on to every news about the drama and the characters whom they came to love for the past 2 months.

Cunning Single Lady Episode 1 to 12 Report Card – The Jung Woo and Ae-Ra Ship by Fangirl Ciel

I’ve been watching this drama regularly, and as of today 12 episodes has been released so far. It’s one of those drama that is easy breezy to watch, but I have no inkling to neither re-watch the episodes nor look for spoilers. What made this drama enjoyable is that there are a lot of LOL moments. The leads may be in their early thirties but their childish antics and fights are quite entertaining. And this drama rocks a great soundtrack too!

Like I did with my Bride of the Century review, I’ve use the same grading system I've come up on how I rate a drama.  These are the following criteria which I deemed are important and what makes up a perfect drama.

I've been watching Bride of the Century live a few episodes back, and I almost never do that. I only do that for dramas that I am utterly obsessed with. For the first time, me and Ana were chatting while watching a drama live. I thought some of our comments were pretty hilarious so I decided to publish it! Below is our conversation. We don't speak and understand Korean, except for the typical Korean words that embeds our minds while watching korean dramas like oppa, saranghae, aegyo, aigoo, ahjumma and chaebol;)

Ciel: It just started! I screamed when they started showing the opening credits. Yi Kyung is blackmailing Kang Joo. Bitch!

   

Ciel: Awww…. The hospital scene… I can feel their pain.

Ana: Me too! How I wish that Kang Joo hug Doo Rim when they passed by her.

Want: Jang Yi Kyung’s wardrobe from Bride of the Century by Fangirl Ciel

I may always be tempted to punch Yi Kyung in the face whenever she appears in Bride of the Century, but how I adore her personal style. Disregarding her evil smirks and gaze, I love her classic style dresses that always look fashionable and tasteful.

While Na Doo Rim may be one of my favorite drama heroines ever, let’s face it, she can not exactly be considered a style icon right? Doo Rim’s style fits her very busy schedule so she always opts to wear something comfortable. She loves wearing loose hoodies, long sleeves and sweaters. I must say that I sometimes dress like Doo Rim do, but I do it on days where I feel fat and not feel well. 

Don't be sad Doo Rim, Yi Kyung may be more fashionable but we all know who Kang Joo falls in love with ;)

Ana’s Take on Bride of the Century

When you are a fan girl, you keep on watching, waiting for that one drama to make you want to lurk into fan sites for every possible news, picture, behind the scenes videos, NG features, preview …..anything at all about that ONE DRAMA that you  really really like at the moment feels like manna from heaven . You listen to the sound track every possible time to help you get through the week of waiting for the new episode. And because you miss it so much you try to find another fan girl who can understand your craziness (I have Ciel to share my craziness with, you can have us both if you need to share with another crazy fan girl =)).

Been watching dramas  regularly for a few years now (I usually pick one to 3 dramas at a time just so I can still have a life though 3 is already   bordering on  crazy haha)  and  it’s been more than a year of waiting for that one drama to make me go gaga over again.  Bride of the Century is that one drama for me and boy how I love to have this feeling back. Me and Ciel got so crazy about BC  we watch it even without subs  (Ciel actually watches it live streaming hee hee)just to ease the pain of waiting and fill in the need to watch the new episodes. What makes the waiting more painful for this drama is that English subs are only available after 3 days of its telecast . Three veeeery loooooong days of waiting whereas in other dramas we only need to wait a few hours. During times like this I really see the need to learn Korean just so I don’t have to  wait for the subs anymore.
